Here is the drunk thought of the evening, what if you could take the pins of a Raspberry Pi and use them to emulate the 6502 directly on a Commodore 64? Have all of the extended memory used in pi, I use the original first couple of pages in memory on the Commodore. Run the pie off the 5 volts going into the 6502.

Jim Drew is actually doing this with a PIC microcontroller. He’s planning on selling it as a CPU accelerator that while slot directly into the C64’s CPU socket, rather than the cartridge port.
